Rebel Cycle & Rebel PT
Located at 511 East Broad Street (former Something You space), Rebel PT and Rebel Cycle are two new businesses in downtown Varina operating out of the same space. Rebel Cycle is a non-contract ride-when-you-want studio. “We pride ourselves on providing an array of classes that are accommodating of all experience levels using music you know and love. Rebel Cycle offers a small class setting where friends come together to push each other and have fun doing it.”
Rebel PT is a physical therapy clinic whose vision is to offer a physical therapy experience that feels different than your traditional visit in a doctor’s office. “All too often, patients feel pushed through the medical system, not listened to, and feel they have no voice in their own medical care. Rebel PT is here to change that.”
Rebel is owned and operated by Courtney and Kyle Smiach who moved to Fuquay-Varina from Pittsburgh, PA, in 2019. Kyle and Courtney both have a passion for fitness and LOVE high intensity cycling classes. When they moved to Fuquay, they knew this town was the perfect fit for their cycling studio and PT clinic. Kyle and Courtney are excited to bring cycling to Fuquay and hope to create a space where people can work hard, have fun, and meet new people within the community.
Dr. Courtney Smiach is a licensed physical therapist who specializes in helping active women overcome things like back pain, hip pain, urinary leaking, and pain with intercourse (just to name a few). She is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), and has completed orthopedic residency, pelvic floor training, clinical management of the fitness athlete, pregnancy and postpartum and functional dry needling Level 1. While Dr. Courtney has a passion for women’s health, she can treat a wide array of orthopedic injuries in both men and women. rebel-nc.com
The new building in the Walmart/Home Depot shopping center is filling up quickly. Three of the spaces are already under construction. To our knowledge, all are unrelated, but they also happen to all be franchise-based businesses. Here’s what’s coming:
Wing It On – Opening Soon
1061 E. Broad Street. Wing It On, as you may have assumed, sells chicken. Their national website shows a selection of 22 different sauces. Traditonal wings, boneless wings and sandwiches are all on the menu. They also offer both traditional and waffle-cut fries, a couple of sides, and chocoalte chip brownies. Some locations offer dumplings which are filled with different chicken-based mixtures.
Tropical Smoothie Cafe – Opening Soon
1071 E. Broad Street. Tropical Smoothie is currently under construction. These cafes are more than just a place to stop for a smoothie. They offer an array of wraps, sandwiches, flatbreads and salads. Of course, they also have smoothies. The smoothies range from veggie and detox smoothies, to fruity and tropical smoothies. All smoothies offer supplements that can be added, from vitamins to collagen to energizers.
Sun Tan City – Opening Soon
1069 E. Broad Street. Sun Tan City offers both tanning beds and spray tans. They also offer tanning-related products and lotions.
M&A General Store
515 Broad Street. M&A General Store is a vendor-based general store. They currently have between 15-20 local vendors/small businesses within the store and that number is growing weekly. These vendors are local artists that offer a wide variety of items. You can find paintings, glasswork and books. There are three different woodworking vendors selling handmade furniture, signs, wine stoppers, pens, and charcuterie boards. Others are offering hand-crafted boutique children’s clothing, soaps, bath bombs and other self care items, along with cups, jewelry and much more.
BOLT Drinks and Coffee
400 Broad Street (formerly FuQuay Brus). BOLT is a family owned and operated business. They pride themselves on providing a one stop shop for all your energy needs with the highest quality locally roasted coffee and one-of-a-kind energy drinks. They are working with local companies to source the freshest, highest quality offerings to complete the package.
They also have hot coffee and are partnering with 321 Coffee, a local roaster in the Raleigh area. In addition to their homemade hot chocolate, they have espresso and lattes available. They are partnering with local bakeries to bring in muffins and bagels whenever possible. They also have a special menu just for kids, including a JR BOLT. Open 7am – 6pm.
T.J. MAXX
The Town of Fuquay-Varina is excited to announce that the Sexton Commons Shopping Center will have a new tenant soon. Retailers T.J. Maxx and pOpshelf submitted plans with the Town in May. Both stores will occupy the vacant space left when Harris Teeter moved to a new location at Fuquay Crossings.
“We are excited to welcome T.J. Maxx and pOpshelf to Fuquay-Varina,” said Mayor Blake Massengill. “Our Town Board has made recruiting popular retailers to the community a priority because our citizens have told us they want these businesses in Fuquay-Varina. I am sure that T.J. Maxx and pOpshelf will succeed here. We look forward to more announcements in the future.”
