Waterline Projects Ensure Efficient Distribution
The Public Utilities Department has announced plans for several waterline projects, with the Town investing just over $7 million to complete them all.
The initiative aims to enhance the Town’s water infrastructure and ensure efficient water distribution and service to residents and businesses in the community. New waterlines planned include Kennebec/Maude Stewart and SW Judd Parkway. Construction is anticipated to take one year and 120 days, respectively.
Due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, several waterline projects had to be postponed. However, the Public Utilities Department is now resuming these critical replacement initiatives. These waterline replacement projects include Woodland Drive, Depot Street, Reynolds Drive, Vance Street, Holland Road, and Main Street between E. Jones Street and W. Academy Street. Ransdell Road waterlines will also be replaced.
The projects will be strategically spaced out over the next year to minimize residents’ inconvenience. Moreover, residents will receive advance notification if there will be any disruption in water service during these projects.
The Public Utilities Department appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as it diligently works to enhance the Town’s water system for the benefit of all residents.
New Hotel Planned
This spring, the Town of Fuquay-Varina announced plans for a new hotel, Tru by Hilton, which will be located at the Bengal Towne Center, a mixed-use development consisting of residential and commercial projects currently under construction. The new Tru by Hilton will feature 91 rooms and 55,000 square feet of new hotel amenity space for the community. With 13 full-time positions poised to emerge and a $14,000,000 influx of capital, the new project addresses the demand for quality hotel accommodations highlighted in the Town’s 2023 Commercial Market Study Report.
The new hotel project is a collaborative effort between owners Fuquay Varina Ventures LLC, developer Clarendon Properties, and management company Crown Hotel & Travel Management. The town of Fuquay-Varina’s population has grown by 142% since 2010, with an estimated population of over 44,000.

What Is a Social District, and Why Is it Being Established?
On March 19, the Fuquay-Varina Town Board adopted an ordinance to establish a social district in downtown Fuquay-Varina. Social districts allow people to drink alcoholic beverages as they walk through defined areas downtown. Beverages must be purchased from participating ABC-permitted businesses located within the social district. Window clings will be displayed on participating businesses’ doors and/or windows to identify those that have opted into the district.
After officially opening, Fuquay-Varina’s social districts will operate Thursday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. The boundaries of the social district will be marked with signage at the entrance and exit areas and paver decals within the boundaries.
North Carolina currently has 59 social districts that have proven to be economic drivers through increased business and downtown foot traffic. Learn more at www.FVSocialDistrict.org.
Fire Station 4 Is Open and Busy
In late March, more than 200 people gathered for the official “uncoupling” ceremony for Fire Station 4, located at 4821 Wade Nash Road. The new station’s engine officially began service on April 4 and in just one month Station 4 responded to 112 calls, the first of which was a residential structure fire. Station 4 houses both fire and EMS services and is expected to reduce response times north and west of downtown Fuquay-Varina.
