New Microtransit Service Launches in Fuquay-Varina
Fuquay-Varina residents now have a new transportation option with MicroLink, GoRaleigh’s on-demand microtransit service. Since its launch earlier this year, MicroLink has been a successful addition to the community, providing flexible, curb-to-curb rides within the Judd Parkway service area and to key locations like Rex Hospital in Holly Springs, WakeMed-Fuquay-Varina, Willow Spring High School, and Wake Tech.
Rides can be requested via a smartphone app or by calling 919-996-3459. MicroLink operates on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Best of all, rides are currently fare-free through January 2027!
Vehicles accommodate up to eight passengers (including wheelchair accessibility) and provide convenient access to downtown Raleigh via the GoRaleigh 40X route at Wake Tech.

Party at the Arts Center
The Arts Center recently launched new party rental packages, perfect for birthdays, office parties, friends’ nights out, and more!
There are three party packages to choose from:
Art Party: 1-hour instructor-led project with all the materials you will need to get creative with friends.
Dance Party: 1-hour instructor-led dance party including fun music and lights to match your party theme.
Music Party: 1.5-hour instructor-led music-based party including a drum set demo, guitar demos, drum circle, ukulele jam, and DJ dance party time.

Fuquay-Varina Demonstrates Financial Responsibility & Transparency
The Town of Fuquay-Varina recently received a “clean” or unmodified opinion from independent auditor Cherry Bekaert, LLP, confirming the accuracy and reliability of its financial statements. This high level of assurance demonstrates that the Town is following proper accounting standards and complying with all applicable regulations.
Fuquay-Varina is committed to transparency and encourages residents to review the full financial report online at fuquay-varina.org (search “Financial Reports”).
This commitment extends to budgeting practices, as the Town has earned the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fourth consecutive year.
The Town is currently developing the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget and invites public input. The recommended budget will be presented on May 4, 2026, with a public input period from May 5-19 and a public hearing on May 19. Adoption is anticipated on June 1, 2026.

What began in 2018 with a handful of murals has grown into a celebrated community project, thriving since the opening of the Fuquay-Varina Arts Center in 2019. “Murals connect people to place,” says Maureen Daly, Director of the Arts Center. “They tell a town’s story, spark conversation, and welcome visitors to discover its unique charm.” As you wander and discover each unique artwork, you’ll connect with Fuquay-Varina’s story and character.
The Mural Walk offers more than just art — it’s a chance to experience all that downtown Fuquay-Varina has to offer. Browse local shops, enjoy a meal or coffee, and soak in the atmosphere between admiring each unique artwork. It’s a perfect afternoon outing!
The Arts Center, working with the Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association, continues to identify opportunities for new murals, pairing local businesses with talented artists. Each mural adds another layer to Fuquay-Varina’s visual narrative.

Economic Development Update
Target Opens
Fuquay-Varina’s economic landscape is growing with the recent opening of Target at Gold Leaf Crossings Shopping Center on March 15. Located at 3200 Gold Ring Road, the 148,000-square-foot store brings a wide variety of shopping options to the community, including a dedicated 13,000-square-foot food and beverage section, a Starbucks, a CVS Pharmacy, and in-store options for Apple and Disney products. Residents will also enjoy convenient services like drive-up curbside and in-store pickup, as well as same-day delivery.
Target is the first phase of the Gold Leaf Crossings development, which will eventually span 800,000 square feet and include retail, office, and residential spaces. The Town of Fuquay-Varina is committed to supporting this growth and has recently completed key infrastructure improvements, including upgrades to the Hwy 401 and Mill Creek Road intersection and the construction of Wallace Adcock Blvd.
Academy Village Progress
Academy Village, a new mixed-use development located on E. Academy Street, is progressing. Developed in partnership with MPV Properties and Proffitt Dixon Partners, the project is designed to offer a range of services to the local community.
Recent lease agreements have been signed with Club Pilates, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Avalon Nails, and Wells Family Dentistry. Lowes Foods will be the anchor tenant of the development, which will also include over 400 residential units.
The project also includes an extension of Academy Street connecting Downtown to US 401, as well as plans for pedestrian-friendly features such as plazas and greenways.
