Kicking off this year’s Follow Me to Fuquay-Varina (FM2FV) concert series is Chairmen of the Board on April 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Centennial Square (102 North Main Street). They will be followed by The Embers on April 21 and Liquid Pleasure on May 12. All are welcome to bring a chair, enjoy tasty food truck treats, and sing along as live music echoes through downtown Fuquay-Varina.
Feeling ‘eggstra hoppy’? The annual Easter Egg Hunt and Candy Hop are taking place on April 9! New this year, the Egg Hunt will take place at Fleming Loop Park, Fields 1-3 (503 Fleming Loop Road) where littles (10 and younger) should bring a basket and be prepared to look sharp beginning at 10:00 a.m. Afterwards, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., hop on over to Downtown Fuquay or Downtown Varina where local shopkeepers will fill those baskets with sweets. Keep a close eye out for the Easter Bunny and Spring Chick and don’t miss a chance to take a photo or two! Be sure to check out the Peeps on Parade, back by popular demand and on display from April 8-11 at Fire Station No. 1 located at 301 South Fuquay Avenue. From April 1 through April 14, take the Eggs-cellent Park Adventure, a scavenger hunt through 10 parks to find 10 brightly decorated eggs. Those who complete the hunt will be eligible for prizes. The Fuquay-Varina Arts Center is featuring a full lineup of performances of a theatrical and musical nature. Are you drawn to emotional vocals? Enjoy an evening in March with Angier native Paige King Johnson. Can’t help but sing along? You’ll love the ABBA and Beatles tribute bands in March and April. Wonder what’s in store when you blend bluegrass with Celtic sound? Then the masterful and unique experience of We Banjo 3 is a must at the end of April! Have a mom, know a mom, or are a mom? Mark your calendars now for this year’s En Plein Air Paint-off in Downtown Fuquay-Varina! Scheduled for May 6 and May 7, this fan-favorite event is celebrating its 11th year. Since 2012, the Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association has supported local artists and public art through this popular showcase of open-air painting. Artists will start painting at noon on Friday and be set up all around town. Photographs of each artist’s finished work will be posted on the Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association Facebook page where and you can cast your vote for the People’s Choice award. This event offers opportunities for you to observe the artists as they work and enjoy a leisurely art walk through Downtown to see the finished paintings on display. And that’s not the best part! You can purchase prints of your favorites and bid on an original in the auction to be held at Depot After Dark, a ticket-required event coming up on June 11.
Looking for the ultimate night out in Fuquay-Varina? Dinner on Depot Street is the event everyone will be talking about! On June 11 at 6:00 p.m., gather outside under the lights on Depot Street to celebrate the beauty and charm that is Fuquay-Varina’s Historic Downtown. A $100 ticket enables you to be one of only 200 special guests to enjoy dinner, live music, and the fellowship of neighbors and friends, new and old. Sponsors and Friends of Downtown receive pre-sale ticket options. This highly anticipated annual event sells out quickly and has been raising funds for the Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association since 2013. Tickets go on sale for the public on April 18.
